Renegade hails from Sweden and is dropping some hot shit. Drawing from Peacefire, Danger, Kavinsky and a bit of Justice, this band was clearly something I would get down on.

Having dropped several tracks I can honestly say I love them all.

Welly welly well

This blog has remained dormant for too long and I have been listening to alot of music so I felt like it was time to post again. Lots of good stuff going around, lots of artists I have re-fallen in love with, and hopefully alot of good stuff in the upcoming year.

Sidechains

These guys are bringing the heat from Barcelona. I am constantly amazed by how dead on they are with the new house sound. Their original songs would make Mr. Bangalter proud. And their remixes have got a great early 90s flair with an 80s synth all mixed with a newer electroclash banging that makes for a keeper.

After my thrilling summer job I am looking forward to returning to school. This will mean more relaxing, more smiles and more time to write and post music.

I've got a few good things to throw out your way though.

DVAS REMIX!!

Everyone knows I am a big fan of DVAS. These guys come from our northern neighbor Canada and are producing straight dance/club hits. All of there songs have the steady beat that make me wanna dance for 6 hours non-stop.

I recently got a hold of a remix of their song Ambient Room. The remix is done by SymbolOne who is responsible for making some awesome 80's keytar tracks as well as some killer remixes. This DVAS remix falls in the latter category and is excellent.

p e a c e FIRE comes from Kobe Japan and is doing some very different electronic music. Some of his songs sound like a Banger mixed with an 80's ambient feel. The other is maximum trance horn but not trance music. Definitely something I have listened to and enjoyed though. Give support and a listen.

Rarely, and I mean rarely am I ahead of the curb on music. I mean, i know what good and whats popping etc. Im hip and i am jiggy. But I mean, rarely am I the first to find a band to blow into the stratosphere with praise and joy.

But The Party Tigers will be that band.

Hailing from Eugene, Oregon (the electro capital of the US), The Party Tigers blend power rock with synth into a head-banging dance party. They are a bunch of young guys working hard and producing great stuff.

Go to their myspace where you can download all of their tracks. The track that caught me was Running to the Party. At first I was like "Beverly Hills Cop?" followed by, "NOW THATS A TASTY LICK". Smiles and rocking out followed.

The only thing better than 80's music, is modernly awesome electro bands doing covers of excellent 80's songs.

Buffetlibre is doing a massive project getting some of the biggest names in electro/indie-blog zone and producing phenominal covers for an all out blow out mix. Some of the artists to name just a few include: Sidechains, Grum, Anoorak, Russ Chimes, Trash Yourself to name just a few. The cd ranges in style and is pretty creative. I mean its free first off. Secondly you know like 87.5% of the songs being covered. Grand Master Flash, Madonna, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, The Talking Heads, A-Ha, and The Police are just some. You will not regret it.

So do you like Kavinsky? Do you like tasty keytar synth shredding with sick dark tones and beats which just amplifies the speed shredding and dark theatrical nature of the song!?!? Did i mention Kavinsky?

The first Redial song I heard, I literally had to pause it after 1:15 seconds to be able to handle the rest of the song. As an avid fan of the dark fast style (.....Kavinsky) this sincerely was just what i needed. A nice change of pace from the 70's italo disco / 80's Casio super pop that I have been enjoying.

Redial works the keys like none other. 1985 blew me out of my chair. Starscream made me have very lucid hallucinations of deep space.

Kurtech

Kurtech is a remixing fiend. He is very young and outrageously talented. His remix of aerodynamic is beat-grid crazy and beyond excellent. His Danger 11h30 remix makes the song better than it was before.

Frankmusik

I'm not sure when I first heard of Frankmusik. Hailing from the UK and only 22, he is way more kick ass than I. He seemed to be one of the random blog tunes which i sorted through. It wasn't until recently i realized how freaking great he is. Its not straight techno/electro for the common readers of this page, I would say its more like Powerpop with synth, with really unique yet familiar vocals.

Much more vocal driven than my usual, but still electro excellence.

"3 Little words" is definitely the song that got me into him. And its pretty outstanding! I've got a few of his songs including a freakin sick remix of 3 little words. "In Step" is a pop-frenzy. "Done Done" is a sad epic sounding electronically backed SUPER JAM!

Hailing from the UK, Fear of Tigers has been doing some excellent remixes of some of my favorite 80's-esque bands like PNAU and Anoraak. More than that, creating some excellent solo work with a driving beat that I crave. Ive got a hand full of tracks, all worth checking out.

For everyone who has ever worked, when you get home from working a full day, and you lay on your bed and listen to one song to wind down, for the past 3-4 weeks Layers by FoT has been that song. If your not familiar with Kid Sister.... WTF. Good Female rappers are a dime a dozen (so are male rappers, not being sexist). Kid Sister has got a good flow and a voice that I really dig. She has Kanye on her cameo list which definetely gets her cred. Not to mention her DJ is the extremely excellent A-Trak.

If your hitting her beeper or checking out how she got her toes did your gonna like it. Her sound is infectious. More over I thank she is flippin hawt as hell and maybe she would be interested in dating a pasty white guy. Either way, I heard a remix by TEPR of her kick ass song Pro Nails. The remix is saweeet and I had to share.

Banger - A specific type of electro song. Often utalizes the broken electronic sound (thanks Justice) and has a driving heavy beat. Differing from club music with its upbeat steady bass, or retro 80's pop with its keytar and rainbows, bangers have a very HARD sound. May also mean - Ed Banger (ed banger records home of the french touch DOS), a slut, or in London dialect a sausage.

(I dont like to be an asshole, but if you don't watch arrested development i'd rather you not read my blog you ignorant bastard)

In this spirit of Bangers, I wanted to drop a few serious songs that are of the genre.

Grum

Cannot find any information about him personally, but I do know for sure Grum is from the UK... or his myspace says (im not a journalist guys). He has done a few remixes (revolte, tronik youth) and is all around pretty good.

His song "Go Back" was the first song I heard and its a solid banger through and through. Recently, Le Castle Vania remixed the song and I liked it even better than the original.

I saw this video on youtube and loved it. Old computers, sweet keytar, radical synths, and vocoders. The best part is the girl dancing girl who looks like she took 1 dance class at her local VFW in preperation for this video. She has all the moves down, the finger snap, the minimal hip sway, and the ultimate dance style i've dubbed "the 15 degree arm bend". YOUVE GOT ME SWEATING BABY!

The synth is pretty infectious, a nice keytar solo in the middle, its got a good beat, and if you like 80's then you'll enjoy it.

DVAS MEGA MIX!

So earlier this week, one of my favorite bands, DVAS, sent a pretty sweet mix to one of my favorite blogs Valerie.

Valerie for those who dont know is a sick blog, with some serious 80's style (like so 80's im talking actually 80's soundtracks from movies, not just an 80's sounding blog)and has introduced a ton of cool music that I've really enjoyed (Anoorak, Moulinex, College, Narctrax).

Anyways, this DVAS mega mix is awesome, and I thought id throw it up here for people to enjoy.

Narctrax

Narctrax is from Japan... Like legit from Japan; they dont fuck around. Now I know what your thinking, is this gonna sound like Melt Banana?.. cause that would be sweet. But no, that is not what it sounds like. Unlike alot of the upbeat dancey 80's prom stuff I post, Narctrax is more like psychedelic/progressive. Not dark and brooding, but mysterious and spacey.

I listen to alot of music and it takes something strong to knock me off my feet into an airguitar frenzy, but Narctrax did that. It was a name I had seen in passing, but the moment it changed my life was from a Valerie post. There was just one song posted. As I read the title my eyes began to cringe at how inhumanely cool of a title it was. The song is called EXCALIBUR GALACTICA. So as i clicked play, my expectations were already high. It was like a symphonic interstella keytar space battle through various galaxies with a shrieking electric guitar effect rocking harder than I ever imagined possible.

Now I'm not saying I'd do anything illegal, but I'd kill someone in front of their own mother to get an MP3 of their song so I could post it. However, I could not find one so all I can do is hope that anyone who reads this will take the 4 seconds to go their myspace to listen to it.

Narctrax Myspace, make sure to listen to the song Excalibur Galactic with good sound (loud quality speakers or headphones are a must!)

Run Seven

Run Seven is from the UK, and are a refreshing blast of House/Electro. I would compare them to Just A Band, which I had posted a few weeks ago. They have that more broken up style of house that I live for, but remain very listenable.

There EP dropped a few months ago and is solid to say the least. It is available for purchase here.

Rick Astley aside, i felt like it was time to post up some more tasty licks.

Futurecop!

It truly makes me sad that I will most likely never get to see Futurecop! unless I travel across the pond. If i ever study abroad, I will certainly go to the UK based primarely on my dreams of seeing Futurecop!. Some would say I should make my decision to travel abroad and where I go based on other things, but currently my decision will be based 87.4% on seeing Futurecop! and 12.6% on personal enrichment and life experience.

So Ive already posted 2 of there songs, prolly my two favorites, but I've liked every song Ive heard by them thus far. "N.A.S.A." is more low key and relaxed but awesome if your just relaxing or driving around. "Class of 1984" sounds like what prom would be like for the members of the breakfast club.... awesome. "Super Saiyan" will rock your face off and then build you up to the moon.

DVAS

DVAS is great. DVAS is ancronym for their full name Dietzche V. & the Abominable Snowman. Based on how freaking cool that name is Im sure your already interested. They are from Canada, and as their myspace genre suggests, they are in my mind the definition of "club" music. Im talking relatively simple series of beats with some sick vocoder vocals. The kind of music that really brings a smile to your face and is easy to groove to.

The whole album is available for download on Itunes. I snagged it and let me say it is excellent. Beatz that make you wanna "night at the roxbury" bob your head. There song "Forever" constantly lightens my mood and takes me to a better place.

First we have Combo.

Hailing from Madeiras Portugal, Combo got into djing in his early twenties and went to music school from 04-06. His stuff is very disco/funk but with seductive bass synth that makes you wanna gyrate.

JUST A BAND

As you may or may not know, while I can never forget Justice and how they provided my tru-rebirth into electro, recently I have been going for more retro disco/funk 80's dance. This does not however have shit to do with whether or not there is still KILLLLLER heavy broken electro beats going around. Just A Band is a fine example of this.

Just A Band is from France. Ive heard there remix with the shoes which was not bad at all. But the song that hit me like a ton of bricks was Walk On Down. Beyond awesome, sick beats, lots of good layering not to mention super cool buildups.

So Ive been really into 80's disco electro recently. Ive found some pretty good stuff at a few different sites. Most of these songs will make you feel like you are living in GTA Vice City driving around in your recently stolen Cheetah. "IM HOT TONIGHT!", not quite. Ill cover them all briefly so you can give a listen.

Futurecop!

Coming from the UK with a sound that bares comparisson to every sick nasty soundtrack for any primo 80's flick, Futurecop! brings it hard.

I had heard of them a few months ago on HRO or something of the like. I heard the song "1-800 Dial NY" and enjoyed it but figured that would be all I would hear. I recently came across two other songs that are absolutely worth listening to.

Russ Chimes

Its nice to see some bands that arent from France because nothing is more trendy than diversity. Hailing from the UK, Russ Chimes sounds like the 80's, but instead of a smooth synth overlay with a sick 4/4 tom beat, its 6 layers of synths mashed up with nineteen beat layers all coming at you like a psychidelic acid highway of funk. That may seem unbelievable but i am no liar sir.

Eddie Murphy...WTF?

The man is responsible for some of the illest standup in history. Following in Richard Pryor's footsteps and being an outstanding comic. As he came into the 80's he made Beverly Hills Cop and I dont think i need to explain what a contribution the theme song for that made to electronica as a whole.

And then there were the later years, The Nutty Professor and Dr. Dolittle.

But everyone seems to forget his splendid musical career with the help of friend Rick James (R.I.P.)

Its been a few days, but Ive been busy with school. Figure id pick it up with some new stuff being buzzed about.

My friend and I were discussing the recent success and explosion of Danger. For all intensive purposes I like his stuff. However, his gimmick of mask wearing and pyramid focus seems a little to dafty for my taste. My only real criticism is his gimmick being unoriginal (Anubis dawgs excluded). However, I dig his songs and eat up the sound.

I read about this band yesterday on DiscoDust . Altair Nouveau is a young musician who makes some ill homemade tracks. Working at a record store and producing at his pad i was very impressed. Several good tracks from him can be found at DiscoDust, but my favorite was kickin jam Space Fortress.

So I heard of this band Sidechains on The Lemur Blog a few days ago. Coming from Madrid, this is some tip top House. Funk coming out the wazoo not to mention more disco than 10 ounces of cocaine.

From the disco funk of there track Dr. Funk to the soul full vocoder intro of Waiting So Long, it all spells excellent in my book.
